Education

Sustainability


S1 Broad-based understanding of ecological, socio-cultural, and philosophical foundations of sustainability education, bio-cultural diversity, political ecology, and social justice issues.

S2 Development and implementation of an onsite school garden that operates in accordance with the Permaculture ethics.

S3 Demonstrate knowledge through participation in local foods movement.

S4 Explore, in-depth, methods of whole systems design, advanced pattern literacy, biomimicry, appropriate technology, energy systems, land use philosophy and practice, and education and teaching methods in permaculture.

S5 Fundamental understanding of the Earth systems and their interconnectedness.

S6 Outdoor photography as a documentary tool for education.



Cultural and Historical Studies

CHS 1 Understanding of the effects of globalization on the diverse cultural values of people of different ethnic and class identities in area of the world outside the West.

CHS 2 Explore representations of race and class in historical, sociopolitical or literary context.

CHS 3 Analyze the cultural roots of perceptions about nature and how such social institutions as economic systems, language, or religion have shaped human interactions with the natural world.
